Dear Abby

What if tomorrow, there was some kind of catastrophic catastrophy and our civilization was destroyed, leaving behind only a few remnants of the citizenry of each country to slowly rebuild society? And what if one of the few bits of culture left was a newspaper? And what if a lone man took it upon himself to continue the age-old tradition of an advice column, because all of the therapists were long gone?

Slowly, that advice column becomes a significant and meaningful part of society.

Slowly, that advice column becomes a priesthood; a direct channel to God- Our Lady Abby.

Every night before bed, children everywhere begin their prayers: Dear Abby...

But there's a problem. The priesthood is dying out. People are becoming less and less interested in Abby's advice, or the words of her deacons. It's up to one bishop, Andy Lockwood, to save his religion. He embarks on a journey of pilgrimage, spreading Advice along the way. But when he meets a young woman who says she doesn't need Advice, who's been reading ancient texts and speaks of self-actualization and learning from your own mistakes, his faith is shaken.

This is a play I've been working on! I haven't gotten super far into it, so we'll see how it goes.
